No songwriter of the last half of the 20th century - or the present one - has cast a longer shadow than Bob Dylan. As singer Eliza Gilkyson once put it, “He was always about breaking out of structure, as a lyricist, a poet/philosopher/storyteller. He irreverently and irrevocably turned the suburban backyard of folk music into a mysterious tangled forest of unlimited possibilities.”
The artists on this album, all of the from Red House Records, represent a broad spectrum from the folk and roots world, covering friends and admirers, from peers to singers and songwriters of succeeding generations. All continue to be influenced by his on-going vision, and the song choices are drawn from various period of Bob’s career.
