4 Star Review The Guardian

Forty years ago, the (then) husband and wife team of Richard and Linda Thompson released one of the classic albums of British folk-rock, I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight, on Island Records. Now their daughter Kami Thompson and her husband James Walbourne, aka The Rails, have their debut album released on the same label. It's a dangerous move, because comparisons become inevitable, but they get away with it. Kami is a fine, versatile singer with a style that at times echoes that of her mother, while Walbourne is an impressive guitarist who has played with Ray Davies and the Pogues. They are joined by Eliza Carthy on fiddle for a set that includes fine vocal duets on a gently exquisite 17th-century lament about the destruction of forests, a weepie country waltz and an upbeat folk-rocker about running from the police. A duo to watch. Robin Denselow

This is a top notch debut very contemporary but firmly rooted in the tradition - and highly recommended
