The Woman and her Words' is the second album from Hannah James, an unmatched force of innovation in British folk. With heartfelt vocals, catchy melodies, jazz influences and a powerful rhythmic core, The Woman and Her Words tackles important issues and subjects in our current climate, with a strong theme of community evident throughout the album. The lyrical themes move from gender roles and the consequences of toxic masculinity, the necessity for green spaces in our inner cities, a dedication to the student anti gun movement in America and to the amazing wave of new young activists walking out of school to demand better environmental policies. The album is a celebration of ageing, gaining wisdom, and of the many women who have delivered essential truths along the way. A multi-faceted performer, James' virtuosic talent spans all her four disciplines: singer, accordionist, composer and clog dancer. She has amassed an international touring career, multiple award nominations, and credits in some of Britain's most respected folk projects, including Lady Maisery and Songs of Separation. 'The Woman and her Words' sees James joined by an international band comprising of percussionist András Des (Hungary), fiddle player Kate Young (Scotland), bassist Marti Tarn (Estonia) and cellist Toby Kuhn (France).
