Jeffrey Foucault – Horse Latitudes

Since his fantastic debut album, Jeffrey Foucault has walked a path that crosses folk, country and rock fusing all three elements together into a classic American sound. On ‘Horse Latitudes’ he returns with a confident album that is somewhat reminiscent of ‘Ghost Repeater’ in the band arrangements and melodies.

Always an intense and wise writer, he’s at the very top of his game here, with an album of songs that create vivid pictures with the lyrics, and a widescreen soundscape with the arrangements – one thing that has changed since the debut is the skill of using fewer words to say much more, the spaces in the music and the vocals speak volumes and add to the overall atmosphere of the album.

He’s put together quite a group of musicians for the disc with Van Dyke Parks, Eric Haywood, Kris Delmorst and Bill Conway joining him across the disc adding guitars, keyboards, percussion and bass to his own acoustic guitar.

Jeffrey has quietly gone about his work for the past decade, producing a string of exceptional albums and picking up fans in the US and all over Europe – this album showcases a whole collection of new songs that offer a compelling vision and interpretation of modern American music, and show why he’s one of the very best.
