If ever there was a tag of a ‘songwriters’ songwriter’ then it surely applies to Sandy Wright – respected by some of the finest of his contemporaries, but still largely unknown by much of the general public.

Disc one covers twelve years’ worth of material, and the album spans the epic and the intimate, the outlandish and the everyday, the comical and the quietly scathing.  He’s an exceptional writer and a accomplished presenter of songs – there are some genuinely brilliant moments here, notably ‘Beads and Feathers’ and ‘Hotel Caledonia’.  All the songs here are a chronicle of real-life, and whether the stories relate to Wright or to other people, the range from sentimental to biting to witty but the common thread is that these are all experiences that we can all relate to – he really is a writer for everyman.

The second disc shows how well respected Wright is with 15 of songs reworked and presented by some of the finest songwriters and musicians of this generation, Chris Wood’s ‘Beads and Feathers’ is one of only two duplications of songs on this 27 track album.   There are many highlights on this second album and some unique collaboration of artists performing on individual songs.
Adding to the wealth of superb material on the discs, the package includes a fold out booklet that contains the words and music notation to all the tracks on the first disc – it adds an air of quality and attention to detail to an already exceptional package.
