A real one off disc featuring from Dave Rotheray, the writer and guitarist with The Beautiful South. This disc sees him writing and performing with some of the finest names on the UK folk scene on an album full of great lyrics, unstoppable melodies and strong arrangements.
He's joined by Eliza Carhty, Jim Causley, Bella Hardy, Kathryn Williams, Julie Murphy and more on an album that charms its way through 14 great songs.
Highlights include the surreal opening and closing 'The Sparrow, The Thrush and the Nightingale' (with Jim Causley), the beautiful performance of Bella Hardy on 'Living Before the War', but the standout track is Rotheray's ballad to those who left his home town of Hull to live and work in London, it's sung by Eliza Carthy and will resonate with all those who live away from their hometown.
