Sara has long been linked to her contemporaries such as Shawn Colvin and Nanci Griffith - but this release shows her drawing on a wide range of influences and instruments to produce an excellent album with an individual and distinctive feel. This, her sixth release mixes both traditional and exotic instruments with some excellent production work to create an upbeat contemporary sound. Also worthy of the note is the intelligent use of backing vocals, they're used liberally throughout the 13 songs and they add a huge amount to the disc, creating the right atmosphere each track. There are some superb melodies spread liberally throughout, but the opener, 'Standing Ground' is infectious, a truly excellent melody and a song that would be a real hit if UK radio ever picked up on artists outside the mainstream. Lyrically, the disc is thought provoking and intelligent, inviting the listener to look beyond the hooks; Sara's own compositions mix well with the couple of covers (including a superb reading of Chuck Brodsky's 'We Are Each Others Angels'). "…Quirky and perky, thoughtful lyrics and sublime melodies…"
