Songbird is a collection of material drawn from Christine's solo recordings since 1993, mixed together with 4 new tracks and a couple of remixed songs. This 15 track compilation is a real treat from start to finish, and although it includes some self penned material, Christine is better known for her interpretations of other people's material. She chooses her songs with extraordinary care - the material on this disc is of the highest quality and she interprets them with real panache. Her voice is remarkable - rich, weighty and powerful, but with enough subtlety to convey the right emotion at the right time; the musicians are first rate and provide excellent an excellent folk/rock backdrop for Christine's vocals. This disc also has an extensive bonus enhanced-CD section for use on PC or Mac - it contains extra notes on all the songs, a biography and a photograph archive. If you don't know Collister's wok, this is an excellent disc to start with. "...she could sing the birds down from the trees..."
