It's been four years since Tish's last album 'Dreaming of the Labyrinth', this new album sees her returning in some style. Tish is a Us based singer/songwriter with a eclectic style - she draws on her Mexican roots, traditional US folk, country and a whole host of other influences. It's a unique approach and one that has brought her deserved critical praise and a broad fanbase.
The approach may be varied, but quality across the 12 songs, but perhaps surprisingly for a singer/songwriter album, it's the melodies that hit you before the words - the disc is full of hooks and insistent melodies.
The lyrics are excellent too though, and there's some really powerful imagery and sentiments here, especially on the beautiful 'Fence Post' and 'I Have No Answers'. The mixture of styles brings in a variety of instruments, fiddles, accordian and horns all mix in with some excellent percussion and the result is an excellent 'adult folk/pop' record.
