Laura is a New York based country singer/songwriter who mixes her own compositions with a few well chosen covers. Her voice is reminiscent of both Nanci Griffith and Emmylou Harris in places, but she is individual and original to have her own distinct style. It's a mixture of ballads, bluegrass, rockers and more - and it's all produced with a subtle hand to produce a good 'honest' sound rather than the usual country full and overblown production. There is an excellent array of musicians on the disc and throughout the album there's detail and nice touches on display - it certainly adds to the enjoyment on offer, and ensures the album stands up to extensive listening.
