Over the past four years we’ve carried and featured four of Brooks’ discs; each one has been excellent in it’s own way, from the classy singer/songwriters album ‘Hundred Year Shadow’ through to the purely acoustic ‘Little Lion’
‘Nectar’ occupies similar musical territory to ‘Hundred Year Shadow’ but it noticeably sharper in every area; the lyrics, singing, production and guitar work all sounds better than ever.
The assembled musicians are all excellent, there’s an easy and relaxed feel to the whole album, and rather than this been a showcase for individual talents, this is a really musically enjoyable disc – it just happens to feature wonderful performances.
Although primarily known as one of the best guitarists around (and there’s plenty of evidence to support that here), his vocals are equally strong – smooth, rounded and extremely easy to listen to .
If you’re looking for something new that you perhaps wouldn’t normally try, then this disc is well worth consideration, an individual singer/songwriter disc with quality running right through it.
