After the success of Bob's 'Low Rent Romeo', our Xmas album of the month, we've got hold of his debut release, 'More Tragic Songs of Life'.
As the title suggests, the songs revolve around little snippets of life, he creates real & vivid slices of everyday situations with detailed lyrics (he's from the Elvis Costello school of songwriting - why scrimp and save on words when you can say everything better with more).
'Tragic Songs' is a disc full of sparkle and energy, musically it's guitar driven pop/folk, with strong melodies present everywhere; but it's the lyrics that stand out, each song exposes a real slice of day to day living with clarity.
There are some brilliant highlights here, 'Bad Day for Love' & 'Prozac Yodel', both stand out as excellent tracks, but the jewel in the crown is 'Theoretical Girlfriend', a witty, clever song with an infectious melody.
'MTSOL' is an excellent disc with lots to offer - varied, intelligent, humorous and great fun.
NOW DELETED, SORRY
