This album is a fantastic collection of songs, and the quality of Nic’s performances both as a storyteller and a guitarist are never less than breathtaking. Put together to re-create a typical Nic Jones concert, it highlights what those of us who never got chance to see him missed out on. Self released by Nic last year, this is intended as the first in a series of archive releases…roll on the next one. For anyone with a passing interest in the folk scene, or contemporary exponents Kate Rusby and John Wesley Harding, this album is essential listening; those who were lucky enough to have heard the originals will need no further encouragement.
