This, Kate's third album is akin to a collection of short stories, the tracks are inspired from family records, diaries and photos that she found on her parents farmhouse. There is a strong family theme running through the album, but the individual songs cover subjects as disparate as the Spanish Civil War, Russian doctors and honeybees. Kate's voice is sweet, almost childlike and the perfect vehicle for the simple and disarming melodies and hooks of the individual songs. The album rewards repeated listening, it works well on many levels - the strong singing and melodies grab you immediately while the literary feel of the lyrics and stories reap dividends for the listener willing to immerse themselves in the disc, it's like listening to an old friend recount stories - a stunning piece of work. "...the richness and flair of a superb collection of short stories..."
