Excellent bluegrass singer/songwriter disc, while the more up-tempo tracks suggest this may just be an exercise in virtuoso musicianship this is a disc that goes well beyond normal bluegrass output in terms of the quality of the songwriting.
Donna's lyrics are more what you would expect from an East-Coast songwriter, and has attracted some of the biggest names around to help out on the disc. Produced by Tony Rice, the guest list includes Alison Krauss, Mary Chapin-Carpenter, Rhonda Vincent, Sam Bush and Alecia Nugent.
The up-tempo tracks are mixed with a good number of slower pieces which results in an unusual blend of bluegrass and strong songwriting. This is a low-key album that probably won't register with the media or radio, but it's an excellent piece of work and certainly worthy of investigation.
