This is Laura's sixth album release, but her first on the Zoë label - and of all her pervious album releases this is the one that should bring her much wider recognition.
She is an exciting and fresh songwriter and performer - difficult to pin down to a specific genre; she flirts with lots of styles, and the tracks move easily across folk, pop, blues, funk and roots. The best description is a world music influenced singer/songwriter - she has great vocal delivery (like a more strident version of Suzanne Vega), and the variety of her singing styles on the disc is staggering.
The variety present on 'Fourteen Days' keeps the listener interested throughout; it's a real melting pot of music and the superb band really carry it off, from the gentle 'Shenandoah' to the great rhythms of 'Sometimes Davey Wins'.
Overall 'Fourteen Days' is an excellent collection by an exciting and individual artist - if you're looking for a fresh artist with talent then this is highly recommended.
"…huge variety - Love can be as gentle as she is gregarious…"
