This Stacey's second album has much to live up to; her debut album 'Simple Gearle' was one of the best-received albums of last year. Although Stacey is a Nashville based artist, this disc is more folk and singer/songwriter material with a twang, than an out and out country album - very reminiscent of Nanci Griffith's earlier material in places. She is an excellent lyricist, always finding the simplest and most efficient way to express her thoughts in song - she doesn't really deal with the bigger issues, her songs focus on the trials and tribulations of people as they make their way in world. It's this 'real world' feel that gives the disc much of its charm. It's a personal and involving collection with lots of likeable detail and many highlights - the moving 'No New Shoes', 'Kiss Her Goodnight' (backing vocals from Sheryl Crow) and an excellent cover of brother Steve's 'Promise You Anything'. Although she will be forever known as Steve Earle's sister, the quality and consistency of this disc (and her debut release) shows that she deserves to be taken on her own terms.
