Although ostensibly a ‘country’ album, further listening to this disc highlights influences from many areas and the quality of Buddy’s songwriting stands out as being first class. Buddy has been labelled as a ‘country Richard Thompson’ – this is an accurate comparison, at times there are definite similarities between the two artists. Many performers have covered his songs over the past few years and on this collection numerous guests including Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle and Julie Miller join him. The disc has a mixture of up front tracks and traditional ballads – it’s certainly an interesting ride over the 11 tracks and great fun from start to finish. "…one of the most consistently excellent roots rock records of the year…"
