This follow up to her ‘Blue Pony’ album is the perfect showcase for her excellent songwriting and performing ability. Better known to many for her tracks covered by other artists, this album shows that sometimes it’s best to hear the tracks ‘first hand’. She possesses a versatile voice and can pull off moving ballads and more solid numbers with equal authority; there are many hooks in the 12 tracks and she certainly knows how to deliver a great chorus! The performances by everyone involved are first class, and with some able support from Patty Griffin, Victoria Williams and Steve Earle the album has many memorable moments.
