We featured these guys briefly last month, but the album deserves a bigger write up.........Salamander Crossing capture the essence of America and bottle it for you to savour at your leisure. Guitars, fiddles, mandolins, accordions and a variety of other instruments, stringed and otherwise, provide the flavours. The songs supply the substance - classy numbers written by the band are complemented by those from outside sources, plus a mighty version of the traditional Ain't Gonna Work Tomorrow. Then there are the voices. Three of the foursome sing up a storm, solo and in harmony, though it must be said that the solitary gal in the band, Rani, is the voice you'll probably find you want to hear more of. It's terrific! Nothing for it but to check out their previous two albums, also on the Signature Sounds label.
