Fish Records Mailer - Issue 30 (Jun/Jul 2004)

We’re changing the summer mailers round a little this year – we would normally have a full mailer now and nothing for August/September (this is due to releases slowing down over summer); this year we’re going to have mailers running throughout, although the two summer catalogues will be slightly smaller than usual.
The number of reviews may be fewer than normal, but the quality is better than ever, the new discs from Lori McKenna, Gretchen Peters and Kate Jacobs are all stunning releases from three hugely varied singer/songwriters.

While well respected by critics and fans as an excellent contemporary singer/songwriter, Carol is not known for her upbeat songs, and this new collection with a subtitle of 'songs of war, loss and remembrance' isn't going to be the disc to change that.... full review
