Fish Records Mailer Issue 20 (June/July 2002)

Summer always sees a slow down in new releases, but fortunately what we lose in quantity we gain in quality. From the wonderful Rosie Thomas disc, through to the Dan Zanes albums this mailer is full of excellent albums that cover a broad range of styles.
We also have a Fish Archive section that will appear each summer, where a few albums from a couple of years ago are highlighted - it's a way of making sure that the best albums of the past few years don't get lost in a sea of new releases.


Rosie Thomas - When We Were Small

Heavily played by Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2 over the past few months, this debut disc from 24 year old Rosie Thomas is now more generally available, and while there are undoubtedly some great radio tracks here.... full review

Utah Carol - Comfort for the Traveler

'Utah Carol' are husband and wife team Grant Birkenbeuel and JinJa Davis, and this, their second album is an inventive collection of 15 songs that are difficult to pin down to any particular genre. It's probably best.... full review

James Keelaghan - Home

James Keelaghan is probably best known to many as the writer of the stunning 'Cold Missouri Waters', originally from 1997s 'A Recent Future', but brought into much wider recognition by the Kaplansky, Williams & Shindell venture 'Cry Cry Cry'.... full review
